Soil and water conservation measures survey
Soil erosion usually degrades soil quality and reduces the capacity of soil to supply and recycle nutrients, store moisture, sustain plant & biological functions and often leads to land and water degradation. If soil and water conservation measures are not put in place early enough, visible effects of erosion include formation of rills, gullies, stream bank cutting, down slope deposition of soil into bodies of water and land that is less suited for agricultural activities due to reduced soil fertility, biological activities and water infiltration. The objective of the soil and water conservation measures study was to collect baseline qualitative and quantitative data that will provide comprehensive information for planning and decision-making besides providing benchmarks against which programme interventions will be assessed.
