In November 2020, UTaNRMP invited proposals from community groups from selected Focal Development Areas (FDAs) to implement civil works focusing on ground water sources and rain water harvesting activities. The list provided herewith is that of approved civil works proposals that will be funded during the 2020/21 financial year.
The Upper Tana Catchment Natural Resources Management Project (UTaNRMP) is financed by the Government of Kenya, International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) and the Spanish Trust Fund. The Project Completion Date is 31st December 2022. The Project Lead Agency is the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to reduction of rural poverty in the Upper Tana River catchment. This goal is pursued through two development objectives, which reflect the poverty-environment nexus namely: (i) Increased sustainable food production and incomes for poor rural households living in the project areas, and (ii) Sustainable management of natural resources for provision of environmental services. The project covers six counties namely: - Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Kirinyaga, Murang’a and Nyeri, Mt. Kenya National Park and Forest Reserve.
The project plans to recruit young professional management trainees/interns to support in project implementation as well as offer opportunity for mentoring and hands-on skills development for twelve (12) months in the following areas;
i. Monitoring And Evaluation (M&E) Management Trainees/Interns
ii. Civil Engineer Management Trainee/Intern
The Government of Kenya has received financial assistance from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Spanish Trust Fund towards financing the Upper Tana Catchment Natural Resources Management Project whose completion date is December 2022. The goal of the project is to contribute to rural poverty reduction in the Upper Tana River Catchment and the two project development objectives: increased sustainable food production and incomes, and sustainable management of natural resources for provision of environmental services. The Project Lead Agency is the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation. The project location is six counties namely: Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Murang’a and the area includes Mount Kenya and Aberdares National Parks and Forest Reserves.
The project now invites Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) for consultancy services to carry out community proposal appraisal (both desk and field), implementation monitoring and evaluation as an independent oversight agent.
The objective of this activity is to enhance implementation capacity and governance of the Common Interest Groups (CIGs) in the implementation of Income Generating Activities (IGAs) financed through Grants to communities. The project intends therefore to hire a consulting firm as an Independent Oversight Agent that will appraise Common Interest Groups’ (CIGs) proposals and carry out implementation monitoring, capacity building and evaluation of the activities implemented by the CIGs.
