In September 2017, UTaNRMP advertised in the media, local public institutions and through Focal Development Area Committees (FDACs) for Common Interest Groups (CIGs) to apply for matching grants from the Project. The grants are meant to support the implementation of community based Income Generating Activities (IGAs). After proposals were submitted and a rigorous desk and field appraisal was conducted by an Independent Appraisal Agency (IAA), 604 proposals were successful and will be funded to implement UTaNRMP supported projects totalling to KShs. 323,973,070.

The Government of Kenya has received financial assistance from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Spanish Trust Fund towards financing an eight year (2012-2020) Upper Tana Natural Resources Management Project. The goal of the project is to contribute to rural poverty reduction in the Upper Tana River Catchment through increased sustainable food production and incomes and sustainable management of natural resources for provision of environmental services.
UTaNRMP advertised forthe 3rd call for proposals from community groups for civil works grants to support the implementation of civil works activities in June 2017. The call targeted specific Focal Development Areas (FDAs) within the project area.
UTaNRMP plans to utilize a portion of its funds to support placement of a Community Empowerment Coordinator (CEC) at the project coordination unit (PCU). The officer will be serving on a one year contract renewable annually for the period of the project subject to satisfactory annual assessment. Interested applicants should be Kenyan citizens and have capacity to work with minimum supervision to meet strict deadlines as well as working outside normal office working hours.
The Upper Tana Natural resources Management Project(UTaNRMP) invited all eligible and qualified firms including those owned by Youth, Women and Persons with Disability (YWPD) to submit expression of interest (EoI) for purposes of pre-qualifying tenderers of goods, works and Services for the period 2017/18FY. The deadline for submission was July 20th 2017. This is the list of prequalified firms for the various categories for the 2017/18FY.
UTaNRMP is implemented through a Community Driven Development Approach (CDD). The project provides Matching Grants to Common Interest Groups (CIGs) through the Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) to support them implement Income Generating Activities (IGAs) upon submission of acceptable proposals. The Grants will be output-based with release of funds being made in tranches upon the achievement of milestones specified in the grant implementation agreement between the Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) and the CIGs.
